The 1982
Australian Jewellery Design Awards grand prize was won by an
interlocking engagement and eternity ring with diamond encrusted flanges
of yellow gold.
Designed by Victorian jeweller George
Andolfi, the highlight of the 18 carat gold ring is a diamond encrusted
pillar that forms a side support for a one carat modern brilliant cut
diamond.
The winners of the bi-annual competition
were announced in Brisbane last month.
The award winning pieces worth more than
$1 million, went on display at the Wallace Bishop store in Brisbane.

A total of $9,350 in prize money was
awarded to the eight section winners plus $2,500 for the grand prize.
George Andolfi not only walked away
with the grand prize for his two ring combination, but the same ring
also took out the awards in the engagement and eternity ring sections.
All of the pieces were judged on the
basis of design, craftsmanship, beauty, originality, the blending of
colours and materials, wearability and conformity with class
requirements...
