Are you serious ???

This is the epitome of over cooked campers. A huge  prime mover complete with sleeper cab, painted up as Optimus Prime with OPTPRM registration …… towing a massive 5th wheeler caravan taking up about 4 sites.

Fishing from the jetty

I can do anything you can do …. better !!!! Oh so much way better Or so she thinks Barb went fishing from the jetty on the village green at Port Macquarie. She has Ross’s rod, reel, tackle and bait. The bait? Ross’s soft plastic bait which she “knows” is nowhere possible anywhere not even close to real proper bait. Which bait is the right bait ???? …. who knows, just any bait other than Ross’s bait. And so via midget carrier pigeon boy, the word filters back to camp central ….. its the wrong sort of bait is why [ ... ]

BBQ ???? Or not

Holy guacamole. Another BBQ. You have got to be kidding. Is breakfast technically able to be a score on the BBQ score board?  If so that five. Toads in a Hole for the Poo Poo Head Barb loves her donuts … so Ross made her jam toast-nuts for breakfast. They’re shit, dry, tasteless and quite stupid. But they look like donuts and its the effort, thought and built in love that gets them over the line. (That should keep Ross out of the shit till about midday)

Port Jet

Barb thought Daniel would love a jet boat ride which is on the wharf with the cruise boats and sea plane rides, the wharf where Ross launched his ship On the way we came across a statue of Sir Edmund Barton in the village green. Barton is the man credited with federation and Australias first elected Prime Minister. Barton originated from the Hastings valley. Ross is sure he would be bitterly disappointed in the current state of the country, and crop of dickheads masquerading as political leaders. In fact we will (insert – unfortunately) be satisfying Ross’s love of politics by going [ ... ]

Ross’s ponder

Picture this, and let Ross know which crucial step he is missing that would explain how this happened. We were all walking across the grass toward the town centre for a coffee when Ross found $2.  Daniel wanted to look at it, and shortly after it somehow became his treasure. In Target about an hour later Daniel was carrying a Matchbox car which Barb said he could buy with his treasure ….. “his treasure”??? Out of curiosity Ross asked how much this slightly more then usually swanky Matchbox car was. Barbs reply was $5 …. but she would chip in the additional $3 [ ... ]

Kayaking …

Woke this morning to a glorious wind free cloudless day. We take back yesterday’s disappointment when we arrived. Ross didn’t go fishing today …. he went Kayaking and took some fishing rods. Saying your going fishing creates to much expectation …. so it was just kayaking with fishing gear .. not fishing. Before he left Ross was doing a load of washing just as our neighbours started to pack up this morning. A feeling of inadequacy crept over Ross when he spied the huge twin tub machine that had been hidden in the annex. Ross packed up the ship and headed 100 yards [ ... ]

Weather improving slowly

The drizzly cold seems to have lifted. Its still overcast but the temperature has risen and when the sun poked its head through the clouds it was burning hot. Off the the supermarket for yet another BBQ. My god … the BBQ is getting a belting. Ross is surprised the gas in the little out of date gas bottle is still flammable. How many BBQs is too many?? Are we over doing it?? It’s getting harder to keep the BBQ looking like new with all this use. If this is the average kilojoule intact, there must be some seriously under fed people hidden [ ... ]

Rainy Port Macquarie

We seem to have driven a world away … to another country, like cold miserable Siberia. We haven’t used the doona for the last 2 weeks, it just been that annoying lump at the end of the bed. On more than one occasion we have longed for even a slight breeze to ease the humid still air. Teleport to Port Macquarie … and it’s wet and it’s cold, and we’re not used to this crap. The humidity in Byron may have been suffocating …. but we want it back …. NOW. We’re about to put the damned heater on [ ... ]

Another Rhino

The morning we left Byron, Daniel found a female Rhino beetle. He was carrying in his hand. It also made a nice broach, when it tried to eat Barb.

We bid farewell to Byron Bay

…… and hello to Port Macquarie after an all day drive south through the Clarence Valley and Macleay Valley areas; through Grafton for our usual Grafton Maccas stop for coffee, onto Coffs Harbour to the Big Banana (Barbs favorite. Ha … not) The narna carpark was full and the rainy walk to the narna’ville temple added to Barbs excitement. Ross could see by the look on her rain wet face she was bursting with anticipation. Ross had the obligatory choc coated frozen banana on a stick. Ross says it’s actually illegal to pass through Coffs Harbour without partaking in the [ ... ]

Last day in Byron

Our last day in Byron and the wind has not let us down … strong and constant. Ross was trying his best to fit in We visited a hippie music shop which had some interesting pieces. Ross wanted to buy a blues harp for Daniel in a specific key.  They had every one except the one he wanted … in the cheap box that is. They had heaps of expensive ones. Ha. They had some really cool cigar box guitars, bongos, uni-cycles and guitars. The hippie music shop probably does ok. Whether you can play or not, part of the standard white [ ... ]

More pies

Only on holidays (and possibly only in Byron Bay) would Daniel get the breakfast combination of A pie in the park And coconut water Daniel wants a coconut from the coconut trolley dude at the beach. Ross bought Daniel a chilled coconut tetra from the shop which he had to finish first. Daniel did in deed finish it and asked if he liked it. His response was no, but he wanted a coconut from the trolley dude and knew he to finish the tetra in order to get one. Can’t beat child logic and perseverance

Hot and windy

It was hot, humid and bloody windy today. We went to the beach this morning for s couple of hours.  We were eventually blown out and the surf was a very dirty chop with an incredibly strong sweep to the south.  Even Ross had trouble standing in anything deeper than waist deep. We came back up for a late lunch and then hibernated in the airconditioned comfort if the camper with Foxtel most of the afternoon.  Ross and Barb both commented it’s exhausting doing nothing. On and off, Daniel has been building a huge model Lego Technic tow truck his sister Ashleigh bought [ ... ]

BBQ …. again?

Wow. We’ve really embraced this BBQ caper. Tonight Barb created some vegie patties (complete with vegetarian bacon)

Suffolk Park pic

Just a nice pic of Suffolk Park

Wanna see a movie??

Daniel entertaining a young lady friend

Safety first

After some caravans died from carbon monoxide poisoning last year, Ross bought a carbon monoxide alarm and mounted it in the kitchen. The alarm hasn’t gone off yet, so we are  assuming we are all still alive …. but after watching The Sixth Sense and The Hours, we can’t be 100% sure.

HeartMath. Very important

HeartMath and Global Coherence Initiative Cofounder…. what the hell does that even mean. Ross is tempted to pay the $25 to find out. Ha …….. we’re joking ……. got ya, ha ha ha. Save your $25, Ross did all the required HeartMath research himself ….. he came up with = one each Watch out, Cofounder would suggest there is more than one of these coherence preachers sneaking about the place.

Product review

The tiny washer The tiny washers biggest challenge was always going to be the giant Jim Beam beach towels. If it can handle them it would truly be a winner. The Holy Jim Beam beach towels are sacred and have seen many campaigns, road miles, towns and cities, laundries, clothes lines and many many beaches. The results are in. The tiny washer punched well above it’s weight and returned the two white Jim Beam beach towels to their original glowing white. The Engel fridge Ross purchased the Engel fridge last year and it lives in the back of his car. It’s seen [ ... ]

Hobie

Kayak on a car …. or car under a kayak I don’t think they take it off the roof, they just flip the car over
