Day 6

Only two days left, so it is all or nothing. Pretty but slippery drive up with a heavy dump over night and continuing to fall. The snow was still falling at lunch time and out was difficult to see the ground for most of the morning. The wind was relentless as well. Day 3

Alert ……… Fierce winds are forecast to batter Victoria today, and the alpine regions are forecast to get an extra dose. The wind in the village first thing this morning was 70kph, gusting to 85. Oddly, at the house it’s blissfully peaceful and the snow capped mountain we’re looking at through the lounge window looks very inviting in the cloudless sky. Looks can be very deceiving. True to form, there is no warning on the money grubbing ski resort website. Even though all the lifts are closed and the mountain shut down …… come on up, pay the non refundable $40 parking fee and get [ ... ]

Day 2

We used to have a camera and a laptop. We took photos and videos with the camera and put them on the laptop. Then we would write a little blog and add some pictures and video. Those were the good old days Now we have a camera, smart phones, an iPad, GPS tracker and a camera. The smart phones don’t talk to the iPad, the iPad doesn’t like the cameras video (although we forget the iPad camera picture connector thing as well). The iPad takes crap photos, plus we would look pretty stupid carrying the iPad around the mountain. [ ... ]

Day 1

We arrived late yesterday unpacked the car and headed into town to organise Daniels ski gear, before spending the evening relaxing by the fire place. (by relaxing we mean chopping wood, carting it from out the back, lighting the fire and …….. ) The snow this year is a bumper load, the best for 10 years so they say. We certainly have never seen the reported depth in the years we have been coming up. Barb made the executive decision that we should snow board for a couple of days for “something different”.
