Maffra

The trip home was depressing as usual.   Max spends more time in Ross’s car than both Barb and Daniel combined.  Max works with Ross and he knows his  assigned seat is the front passenger seat, so when we go away he struggles a bit when Barb evicts him and relegates him the floor in the back … a small piece of floor because 60% of the rear seat has been removed to house the Engel.   Max took Daniels weakness and took up residence on Daniel’s lap while Daniel watched TV The Maffra car museum is an enormous building on the outskirts [ ... ]

Mystery Bay NSW

The ducted heater gets the van pretty warm, and for some it can be a little difficult to get moving in the mornings Tilba Tilba is a small historic town where the ABC cheese factory is located, home of Tilba Real Diary and Tilba cheese.   We’ve discovered any commercial supermarket style diary produce manufacturer basically sells supermarket diary products.   In hindsight that revelation should not have come as such the surprise it did.   There was an awesome lolly shop in town where all manner of old style lollies could be purchased; by old style we mean the lollies Ross would buy [ ... ]

Dalmeny NSW

Barb found another coastal gem at Dalmeny, which is located around 7km north of Narooma.  The caravan park is on a grassy hill on the southern headland with unobstructed views 5km north along the coast to Potato Point.   The only downside is the caravan park is on the side of a hill.   There has been zero attempt to level any of the camp sites and many slope both N/S and E/W.   We read about camp area’s descriptions in Wikicamps which often overstate things, but in this case the slopes on some sites were borderline insurmountable. Our elderly neighbour had the perfect [ ... ]

Tuross Heads x 3 days

A cold and damp 3 deg over night behind the Bellbird Hotel, but we were warm enough with the diesel heater going all night. Some of us were a little slow to get up Starting this morning so close to the NSW border we decided to skip Merimbula and head a little further up the coast and find somewhere new. We passed through Narooma which is a favourite We found the small coastal town of Tuross Heads which is located off the Princes Hwy 30min north of Narooma, and 30min south of Batemans Bay.   The small caravan park is absolute beach front and 10 [ ... ]

Bellbird Creek

A bit of a plan to make an unplanned and random trip up the NSW coast for the second week of the mid year school holidays.   We left home late …. again, which is an issue when we were planning to launch our NSW holiday from around Merimbula or Tathra today which is a 7 hour drive.   That said regardless of the exit time, any exit is a good exit. Lakes Entrance, always a good place to be driving through Lunch and run around in the Sale Botanic Gardens, Max got a brake from the car and the local Peacocks got a [ ... ]
