Tuross Heads x 3 days

A cold and damp 3 deg over night behind the Bellbird Hotel, but we were warm enough with the diesel heater going all night.

Some of us were a little slow to get up

Starting this morning so close to the NSW border we decided to skip Merimbula and head a little further up the coast and find somewhere new.

We passed through Narooma which is a favourite

We found the small coastal town of Tuross Heads which is located off the Princes Hwy 30min north of Narooma, and 30min south of Batemans Bay.   The small caravan park is absolute beach front and 10 powered sites are almost on the beach.   Being the cool mid year holidays there is no-one around so we had prime position and the caravan park had a 3 for 2 deal so if we decided to stay the extra day it would be free

The breakfast table view from the van

Barb innocently prepping dinner … with her Commitment Ring on the bench in the foreground

Barb made us all some home made sausage rolls, some small home style and some the larger bakery size monsters

Tuross Head Beach and river inlet

A Tawnee Frogmouth hidden in the fork of a tree.  We didnt find it, it was pointed out to us

The beautiful local cafe at an old boathouse right on the edge of the lack

The lookout where Barb kept an often lonely vigil in her quest to spot a whale, even using our wonky binoculars where you have to keep one eye closed to be able to focus on anything

Good friends of our, Phil and Michelle’s son has a cafe in Tasmania (somewhere) and this is the boutique coffee he sells.  Were given a bag of beans to try out, a very different but pleasant floral fruity flavoured coffee

The beach and coast at the northern end of Tuross Head

According to the sign a large whale washed up here many years ago, and the carcass was buried here.   From the grassy lump it would appear that it may not ahve been buried very deep

The McDonalds conference centre in Batemans Bay …. um, yep a McDonalds conference centre.   Not really sure what to say about that

Enjoying a run around on the beach with Max, when a Masked Lapwing (Plover) decided Max wasnt welcome.   The bird wasnt interested in Ross or Daniel at all, and Max wasnt interested in it

The Bodalla Cheese  factory outlet was less than impressive, aside from the $12 for a tiny tub of ice cream

The boys.   Max isnt allow on the couch so he does everything possible to be on the couch without being on the couch

Barb let Max out late in the evening to pee.   Max spied a rabbit and took off in pursuit.   Barb screamed out and called Ross but didnt mention the rabbit.   Ross found Max and learned him right up on the protocols for not running off.   Back in the van Max nervously hid down near the bathroom behind the curtain for the rest of the night.   Although running off is a no no, the presence of a rabbit would have “lessened” the lesson so to speak

Earlier in the day Barb was walking back to the van from the look out.  Ross rode up on his bike and met heron the way back for a brief minute before riding off down the hill back to the van.  Barb decided right at that point to take Max off the lead for some off lead training and he took off like a gazelle after Ross who ridden off only shortly before.   Max arrived at the van, and bringing up the rear yelling like a fishmongers wife was a very angry Barb
