When we arrived at the resort we headed to the ticket area to organise lift passes and Daniels hire gear. We had to log in on a computer before heading the 3mtrs to the counter … where we were instructed we had to order lift passes online on one of our mobile phones. The very helpful counter assistant then sat us down and went about doing that for us … on Ross’ s mobile. We almost thought it may have been more efficient before. It took twice as long as last year and 3 staff to complete ……. but who [ ... ]

There is literally no limit to the ingenuity and lengths that companies will go to in order to part dopey people and their cash. This gem is a vending machine that provides punters with a charging gizmo to charge your mobile phone battery,  at a mere $5 for 25min of charging time it seems like a great investment. I suppose anyone who pays $450 for a single day at the snow wouldn’t quibble over $5 to charge the phone.

At last. A day on the snow. On the way up the mountain we came across the land slide that block access to the up and down the mountain earlier in the season. Lucky no-one was directly under it because they would surely be deady bones. People were trapped on the mountain and we’re forced to sleep in their cars overnight … what a lovely thought. The resort car park had a grand total of 2 cars in it and what we could see of the snow wasnt incouraging. We paid the required  $450 for the day and took the lift to [ ... ]

Ross finds lifes answers everywhere

Give me cake and pies” A very famous song from the Sound of Music and sung by Julie Andrews The cake shop is called Edelweiss, Daniels pie is beef cheese and bacon, and the cake of the morning is Neenish tart Barb is recovering from car sickness on the drive to Bright and will forgo the first round of cake and pie.

The weather is conspiring against us. The shit snow is being backed up by relentless rain, which is continuing today along with forecast thunder storms. Although the rain is holding off at Mt Beauty the weather report is ominous on the mountain; and each passing hour reduces the pitiful snow conditions even further. We plan to head into Bright today and hope for s reasonable day on the mountain tomorrow

One of Ross and Barbs two favorite indulgences .. the Beechworth Bakery. The other is Fredos Pies in Frederickson near Grafton After the round of pies for lunch we headed out into the street, got hit with the reality of the cold wet day and did an immediate about turn and headed straight back into the Beechworth Bakery for coffee and cake (to wait out the weather)

No, not ours; the Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum in Beechworth.   According to the historical  documents and medical reports … the place treated “Lunatics”, “idiots” and “imbeciles”. Idiots and imbeciles?, wow, doesnt look nearly big enough.  Should see many familiar faces. There is a nut bag tour at the asylum that Ross and Barb are itching to do, but will have to leave it to another time because  Barb felt a little diagnosable … ha, no, actually because its not appropriate for Daniel. (Barbs left eye is twitching a little tho)
