27 Mallacoota

It was cold last night. Bloody Victoria, we’re no more the 3ft over the border and the weather turns to shit

We even put the diesel heater on this morning because it was 13 degs. The chicken (or more accurately roostet) was anouncing dawn at the top of hi

20 vehicles in camp last night ranging from tent, whizz bangs, caravans roof tops and motor homes.

We only had 20km or so from the freecamp to Mallacoota, but check in at the foreshore caravan was 12pm according to a notice in the freecamp toilot block. The notice is a pretty good indication that plenty of people overnight in Genoa before heading into Mallacoota.

We drove into town with 2 hours to kill. We wandered the 100mtr main street, went to grab a coffee at the cafe, but stopped short because of the world record size dog turd under the only empty outside table.

We had a wander around the caravan park, identified our still occupied site which was shaded under some well positioned trees. Shade is good because its starting to heat up out in the full sun

We drove out of town to the surf beach on the sandbar to the estuary.

Some more examples of knuckleheads, this time wander onto the clearly sign breakwall

We’re meeting Nonna, Nonno and Unk in Mallacoota for 4 days before we start heading home

Ross’s new Chinese mate invited us to China, and they exchanged contact details. He has produced some pretty impressive videos for tourism and Ross was keen to keep in contact.

The foreshore caravan park in Mallacoota is enormous, and early indications are the shower block is pretty unimpressive and inadequate for the sheer quantity of people about place.

There seems to be only one shower block within cooee of our camp, which services a large area of campers and it only has 4 less than impressive toilets and showers.

Unk’s inflatable tent, setting up on the site next door

Including the onsite van sites, there are 710 sites in this caravan park. On the caravan park map, and favouring the caravan park, there 100 sites closer to the shower near us than the other 3 within the park.

The shower block near us has 4 showers and 3 toilets. If every site was limited to 2 people (which is most definitely not) the 4 showers and 3 toilets service over 200 people … plus they are very second rate

Unk’s $25 pizza ….. ouch
