Day 2

We used to have a camera and a laptop. We took photos and videos with the camera and put them on the laptop. Then we would write a little blog and add some pictures and video.

Those were the good old days

Now we have a camera, smart phones, an iPad, GPS tracker and a camera. The smart phones don’t talk to the iPad, the iPad doesn’t like the cameras video (although we forget the iPad camera picture connector thing as well).

The iPad takes crap photos, plus we would look pretty stupid carrying the iPad around the mountain.

The camera still takes the best pictures and videos, but wont talk to either of the smart phones nor the iPad.

All in all, advances in technology seem to have have gone backwards in practicality and completely buggered up what was a very simple, functional system that worked quite well.

We have buckets of pictures and videos and you’ll just have to wait till we get home to see it. Daniel is writing a story of his trip for his teacher, and he is planning a DVD video compilation of his exploits to show his classmates next week.

Back to day 2. Another glorious cloudless warm day on the masses of abundant snow. Yesterday we missed a startling observation, probably because of the levels of concentration needed to stay injury free (or injury limited) on the snowboard. Today it was very obvious that despite the bumper snow falls there is hardly anyone around. The lift lines are non existent and the cafes are empty. The carpark is only half full, and the on mountain accommodation parking pretty light on.

Its only $40 for day parking and $109 each for a lift pass. They’re almost giving lunch away at only $14 for a foam coffee cup of soup, and a mere $9.50 for a sandwich, we can’t understand why this place isn’t pumping.

We virtually had the entire mountain to ourselves, which is fantastic especially in the conditions we have had for the first days.

We stopped for a coffee at the larger and main cafe at about 11.50, 10 minutes before lunch and found the main food servery registers closed and 1 table with people? The lifts close at 4.30 or 5.00, but yesterday one of the main lifts was closed at 2.30. We headed over the back area furthest away from the village and stopped for a donut (recognised ski energy food) and coffee the cafe on slope at about 3.00; the cafe was empty and they were already cleaning the coffee machine.
