Camper issues

We just spent 5 weeks camping along the east coast which is a good test for the Expanda before the warranty runs out.

We got to Ben Boyd National Park without incident. The 60km of relatively corrugated and potted track and the Expanda was all but dust free and nothing had fell off on the trip or out.

Had a few of the privacy screen hooks give way over the course of trip, but was operator error when I didn’t prepare the surface properly before applying the adhesive. Each one reapplied properly has stayed attached to date.

Too many of the overhead cabinet doors refused to catch when locked, especially when the road was bumpy. The vertical movement of the hinges allow the locked to jump over the catches and the cabinet contents to fly about the camper. One of the over head doors is completely minus any catch at. Every time we had diligently closed and locked the handle, it’s remained completely unsecured. Lucky that cabinet has baskets inside for the contents.

The rubber seals on both the front and back hard lids that seal the unit when closed miss the corners all together. The seal corner is a different profile to the seating lip of the van itself, allowing the seal to miss the corner altogether. The two plates mounted to van that receive the hard lid catches when closed are to short and are perfectly positioned to slash two slits through the rubber seal.

The poptop roof is one inch lower on the kerb side and is very noticeable in the obvious slackening vinyl skirt on that side of the camper.

The Winegard aerial still refuses to play the game. In one park our neighbours had perfect reception on three commercial channels in the Winegard equipped Jayco Sterling …. we had nothing. A test revealed noticeably better reception plugging the LCD directly into to the Winegard power board on the opposite side of the van, convincing me the wiring is dodgy.
