Inverloch March 2010

The camper has been booked in for some warranty work so we wanted to make good an opportunity to enjoy a good forecast and headed off to Inverloch for the weekend.

Ross booked the site was told that only 2 sites remained …. and we were relegated to the grassed area right down the end of the park.   All to familiar in thats what happened when we booked this time last year to take the Panda on it’s maiden voyage.   That trip ended badly with leaks, ripped canvass and never ending rain, wind; more wind and then some rain.

As we drove into town the Twilight Zone started to close in on us.   This weekend was the Inverloch Food and Wine festival ….. same weekend as last year (purely by coincidence)   ow all we need was the rain, the wind and problems to lock us into a time warp.

The weather was perfect with magnificent sunshine all weekend and no sign of wind other than a gentle sea breeze.

Poo Poo Head showed how much he likes camping; and our camp set up.

… and Barb did her best impression of Dr Evil

We spent Saturday morning at the beach and headed to Cape Patterson after lunch.   On the way the coast is not different from the Great Ocean Road, just on a smaller scale.  The views are terrific and the cliffs imposing.   This area we stopped t was called Eagles Nest

Not much there, but a nice little beach area with a rock pool for the kids to play in safely tucked away from anything the beach cold throw up

We think the calm day was a false security at Cape Patterson.   The swimming beach was clear and calm, but the rocks surrounding swimming beach gave a little taste of what could throw up on a windy rough day.

The Big4 cavan park is a short stroll to the inlet beach which is a safe shallow swimming area when the tides in and a long walk to water when the tides out.

Adjacent to the the Big4 is the foreshore camping ground and we took a drive in to check it out.   The camp ground is very long and runs along a sand being the only thing separating it from the inlet for it’s entire length.   The sites are bordered into small areas that would occupy about 6 or 8 camp sites and would be perfect for a group and family.   The second half of the camp ground is non powered and was very secluded.
