Today we headed into Canberra to take Daniel to Questacon.
Questacon like Science Works back at home in Melbourne.
There’s lots of hands on interactive science type displays, puzzles and displays. Some were fun, some were interesting and some held Daniels interest more than others
Questacon rope puzzle
Questacon has a similar vertical drop to that at science works
We found a book that perfect for Barb
This exhibit is an hour glass type vessel with a rubber susbtance inside. Questacon opened back in in 1982 and the rubber hour glass was there at the start. Amazingly the rubbery contents have been oozing downwards from the top through the gap into the bottom. 35 years later the rubber has made its way about halfway though. We plan to come back in 2052 to see its finished. We’ll likely punch someone out if they flip it before we get there
Ross doesnt have time this trip to visit his beloved Parliament House. A coupe of hours would just be a tease, and wouldnt allow him to stalk and of the (dis) Honorable members
On the way back to camp at Bungendore we visited a wood gallery recommended by Phil and Michelle. It has some amazing pieces of furniture and art all made from various species of wood; none more amazing than the Hannah Cabinet made by cabinet maker Geoff Hannah and for sale for a cool $1.5million. Seems a little over priced for a cabinet with no Laminex or Caeserstone … there isnt even a sink.
The Federal Government has already a previous Hannah Cabinet and Ross recalls them paying around the $1million for that one. The cabinet is an incredible work of art, which apparently took 6 1/2 years to complete
They gallery also had a tool chest full of Australian timber hand made tools
