Day 2

Day 2 is the actually the first day of skiing. We got a real shock on the drive up the mountain ……………

We got to the village before we seen any snow. The first (or lower carpark) where we have parked before, and opposite the first lift and poma was competely snow’less ……… not a scrap of snow to be seen.

The village square was clearly all man made snow, not surprising with the relative mild temperature on arrival.

Mei Li managed to get onto the Express chairlift without too much drama, and from the village and screamed for half the trip up. The top of the mountain shrouded in thick fog.

Barb and Ross dropped off Daniel, Ashleigh, Reece and Mei Li at their respective lessons and headed off into the fog for some very average skiing in almost zero visibility.

The runs cleared towards the very lower sections which revealed the real extent of the very light on snow conditions. Entire areas that are usually covered in snow were completely clear, limited to obvious man made snow making.

The mild conditions made what snow was on the ground quite soft. Patches of rock, grass and vegetation were scattered throughout the ski areas.

After lunch we collected all the “students”.

Daniel had lost none of what he learned last year.

We will skip day 3 in the blog. It literally rained all night, and rained very heavy with a few serious bouts of lightning and thunder. We got to the gate this morning to be told the mountain was on standby with all lifts closed due to wind and lightning. We waited 30min and made the executive decision that including the fact everyone would miss their lessons anyway we would call it a day and head over the Bright for lunch

Finger crossed for tomorrow
