A glorious last day in Byron Bay

We didnt go near the town today, so Ross didnt see any white Yogi’s, and started to soften his view on Byron Bay. Last night we walked into town for an ice cream and Ross met a local Koori gent and had a good chat. Ross would probably not have been so abliging with the Yogi’s.

Daniel has formed a keen attachment to Spearmint Chocolate Chip icecream

We had breakfast in the cafe just outside the caravan park gate. The cafe over looks the entire Byron Bay beach, and the avocado, ricotta, salt and oil toast was very special. Barb was very excited about being in Byron Bay, having been for a walk, seeing the beautiful clear sky and feelibng the temperture raising. Ross’s first cafe coffee for the trip was not too bad either. Ross has all but given up trying to find decent coffee.

Byron Bay turned on a glorious day for our last day here. Barb went for an early walk. The beach looked great, the waves small but consistant, a slight breeze and the temperture steadily climbed to a fantastic 27 degrees. Even the water temperture seemed to have lifted a couple of degrees.

Barb and Daniel loaded Ross up like a pack mule and we head off for the walk along the beach to Wategoes Beach to the north of town

Daniel was electric in his excitment of catching waves on his inflatable mat, until he flipped over and took on some sea water. Daniel stayed well clear of the water until Ross started a sand and water fight with him. He forgot all about the dunking and had a ball running around in the water like a loony.

Both the boogie board and surfboard got a serious working out today over the course of the 5 or so hours on the beach.

We took over the area the size of a small country with all the crap we carried to the beach … and not just to the beach, but to the beach and about a half a kilometre along the beach.

The amount of surfers in the water in the area where Ross was surfing was incredible. There were dozens

We leave Byron Bay in the morning, heading about 4 hours south to South West Rocks; another of Ross and Barb’s mostest favourite places. When the weather is good, South West Rocks is fantastic, when the weather is crap, South West Rocks is crap. Fingers crossed
