We took Daniel back to the camper after lunch for his nap, but he had other ideas. He decided he didnt want to sleep so Barb took him for a blast on the park jumping pillow. I dont know who was having more fun, although only Barb complained about the back pain afterwards.
We went the lake in Bendigo (I cant remember the name, it’s cold outside and the Bendigo tourist book is in the car) Daniel rode his bike to the playground at the lake and we rode/walked the 1.5 km around the lake before heading closer into the CBD, where we went for a walk around what looked like the botanical gardens complete with a conservatory.
The playground was as close to perfect as a playground can get. Big, fenced all around and comes with its on coffee tent. P.E.R.F.E.C.T.
Although the sign on the wall says State School No 1976, the creepy old red building with the imposing look staring down from the top of the hill screams mental asylum.
Through the trees high on the hill across from the State School, I could see what looked like a mine head that appeared to have people on it.
We climbed the pathways through the gardens towards the top and it was very steep. Both Barb and Daniel felt the muscle burn. Daniel actually stopped and just sat in the middle of the path pleading to be carried.
We climbed to the top of the mast head and the view, whilst high, was not much. Plus the 8 ft cyclone fence made it impossible to take photos anyway. About half way down Barbs thigh locked up and she had to almost hop down the stairs …. the good life catching up with her. Ha.
I spent the whole day looking like a wanker tourist with both my huge camera and video camera hanging around my neck. The only time I didnt bother to take the video camera and I missed a golden opportunity for a real shot at Funniest Home Video prize with Barb blowing a Quad on the stairs.
I did question Barb on a video interview at length later on back at the camper
Barb seemed to be doing much better a little later on after same “Self Diagnosed and Administered” medication she happened to have on hand. A real trooper and true bushie, using whatever is on hand to treat the injury
It was dark by the time we left the gardens to go home for dinner, and the gardens were nicely lit with path lamp posts throughout. On the way back to the car, King George V took a moment to rub shoulders with Daniel, Laird Of Parkdale.
