Bendigo

After a very cold night, we had another warm and sunny spring day. At Daniel’s repeated and vocal requests we returned to the lake, which we now know is Weeroona or something like that. (I tried my hardest to remember the bloody name to)

Had lunch in the park in the sun and left toward Lake Eppalock to check that out on the way home.

The lake is decimated. We first went to the spillway and then to the main area that would be the activity hub when the lake was full. The site lake was such a shock. It puts a very real tint on that word ‘drought’. I think we get a little immune to the word, especially in the city; we hear it over and over, but the site of Lake Eppalock slaps you with a sense of reality. With the Panda on the back, we drove hundreds of metres into what would have been a massive lake.

The coast guard building is so far from any water it looks like its a mistake even being in the area. We drove around signs indicating safe swimming areas and around signs telling us maximum boat speeds.

We found the boat ramp which was about 100 metres long, and even at 100 metres plus it is still no where near any water.
