Main Beach. Day 10

The aircon was turned of at 7am this morning for the first time in almost a week. Its about 26deg with a cooler south easterly breeze

The forecast is for another 30deg day, but its nice to able to open up the van, give the aircon a breather, and sit outside and have breakfast. Rain is also forecast which will push up the humidity latter in the day. We had a little drizzle earlier, so maybe that was the forecast rain

Theres less people in the caravan park everyday, which were still struggling to understand why its so empty. It is just right here in this caravan park, or is it a wide spread thing. Oddly, there is a lot of people in Surfers, especially at night …. clearly none of them are staying here

Daniel found a mate to play with …. his name is Daniel, which is easy for them to remember, but difficult for the parents to yell at the correct kid.

We all went for a bike ride over the bridge north to Southport. We looked a water play area for Daniel maybe tomorrow. The blue blubbers were numerous in the river under the bridge, although the picture probably doesnt show them clearly

There is a jet boot rental thing in the Broadwater. The victim client straps water propelled boots on which are attached by a large hose to the exhaust jet of a jetski, and using some kind of controller flies about in the air …. or in this case fly up a little, then crashes.

Looks like it could be great fun, but not so much in blue blubber infested water …. you’d end up eating a jelly fish

We had a very light short lived drizzle this afternoon … but the extensive black sky over the south east was threatening. All seem to pass over, and the clouds lightened up. Ross went for a run into a strong southerly.

Ross was back about 15 minutes and sky literally opened up and thick sheets of rain fell. The wind whipped up and was buffeting the awning, and the amount of rain was incredible.

It belted down for a good 30 minutes, before the wind eased, followed by the rain.

It was a great test for the van, and it took it all in its stride. The canvas bed end was bone dry with the storm cover doing a flawless job. The only disaster …. Daniel lost the Foxtel signal through the worst of the rain

Out for dinner; but first Daniel felt like a quick drink at the pub

We decided on a nice restaurant that we have been to a few times before. Just before we had finished our meal the sky opened again …. and it just didnt let up

We has naively chosen the restaurant that is about as far from the car as we could get. Daniel was having a ball, and Barb was squealing. We tried the wait and see approach, but it wasnt given any indication it was going to stop …. or even let up a little

We got back to the car all soaked through. Barb is not a fan of rain

Ross decided it was a dryer option to buy grog than get coke out of the back of his car. Some drunken idiot in the BWS was arguing the point about being refused service and was refusing to leave.

Someone had apparently called the police and there were enough suburban heros involving themselves, so Ross was very happy to leave them all to it. The knucklehead wasnt being aggressive, just a pain in the arse.

Ross grabbed his tonic, pushed his way in front of the knucklehead, paid the girl and started to walk out. One of the suburban heros asked Ross if he could stay until the police arrived …. the other hero was gaining more crowd courage by the minute, and started baiting the knucklehead. Really … your picking a fight with the drunk in a bottle shop because 2 other guys are there help you gang up on him …..

At that point a Police car drove past out front and Ross couldnt get out fast enough ….. back to the van to enjoy the tonic and watch the tennis
