Uh oh….Suffolk Park Bakery…too yummy!!!!

We have discovered that Suffolk Park has a divine bakery that is chock full of your everyday breads, pies and pastries, great coffee and wonderful looking cakes…this place might be too close for comfort. Also in their window is my all time favourite ‘naughty”, jam donuts. Daniel enjoying a bacon and egg muffin…. Yum..yum..yum..

The only fish caught

Ross had mentioned our being in Ballina and spending most of our time across the road at the awesome Richmond River. One of my favourite beach holiday pastimes for as long as I can remember, is fossiking for sea creatures in rockpools or in the shallow waters of an out going tide. This year, Daniel has shown that he truely is his mother’s son, and totally embraced this fun hobby as never before. His excitement at finding little creatures to add to our collection was wonderful and if it weren’t for the fact that we had to have dinner the [ ... ]

Daniel’s first purchase from Draculas…

For as long as I can remember, (and Daniel is only 7-nearly), Daniel has had a fascination for a shop in the Gold Coast called Draculas. It is the shop front and retail outlet for a great cabaret show that they do both here and in Melbourne, Ross and I having been to both. It is not for this reason at all though, that ever since Daniel was old enough to walk and with every visit to Qld, Ross and I  have both been dragged to “the scary shop” as he calls it. A boy thing? a Daniel thing?…who knows. Today [ ... ]

Scooby Scooby Dooooooooo…

I must say that as someone who DOESN’T like rollercoaster rides, I get 10 points for going on this one…I screamed my lungs out nearly the whole way and was thankful it was all indoors and u didn’t have to see exactly how high I was off the ground. Daniel loved it…and Ross just laughed at Barb…. Waiting in line for Daniels first ever ride…Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster!!!!

Chucky’s gone…Movieworld here we come….

After 2 1/2 days of spew, buckets ( or lack there of), tummy aches, headaches and quick dashes up the street just to keep us sane ( so excited to leave the apartment for a half hour, ” let’s-go-for-a-walk-and-see-how-he-goes”, Daniel is better, albeit a little pale. We are off to Movieworld!!! Waiting for tickets to be printed at Crown…Daniel waits patiently… At the entrance to Movieworld..Daniel VERY excited…

Happy family together’ness’ness

“Us”…smile for the camera-easier for some than others!! Apparantly there was a whale swimming just off shore while we went for a walk along the Esplanade..We looked for a while but didn’t see anything. Bit windy for the beach so back to the hotel pool after lunch. Guess which one is not a fan of this photo shoot

First swim!

It didn’t take THAT long….Daniel in the water at Crown Towers… Water’s too cold for me…and outside temp not quite warm enough. Ok for the boys though..

1st morning breakkie….

With no food in the cupboards (yet), its off to McDonald’s to grab a morning coffee and some breakkie for Daniel before we hit the supermarket. Gorgeous day here on the Gold Coast…it’s good to be back!!!

Hi from Barb

Well, what can I say…I’m back!   About 7 years ago, Ross, Ashleigh, Ben and I, came here as part of a 3 week venture up the East Coast of NSW. I fell in love with the place and have sung its praises ever since. We arrived today, and after sighting the familiar views of the infamous breakwall, exposed sandbanks of a lowering tide opposite the park and the tidal lagoon adjacent to the park we originally stayed in and now choose to stay in again, we duck up to the main drag and the first thing that strikes me are a [ ... ]

Hi…from the other half!!

Hello! After deciding to write a little bit in Mallacoota, in my own defense to Ross’s “special” writing sense, which implied that I had done nothing in preparation for this trip (thanks muchly my love), I lost the whole piece I wrote … karma perhaps for my use of special language (jokingly of course..maybe karma didn’t realise this), Ive kept this piece much more low key! So, I don’t have much to say, really.  Ross, with all his dry humour and sarcasim, has actually done a good job of getting our trip story across so far, and as I can see [ ... ]
