QLD Days 7 and 8

Monday night a storm blanketed the Gold Coast with constant wind and rain.   The wind dropped off but the rain continued for most of Tuesday.   We spent a few hours wandering around the Pacific Fair shopping complex where Poo Poo Head almost perfectly mastered chopsticks.   He held one in each hand and it looked  pretty good to us.

We came across a showcase for the new Samsung 3D LED televisions.   Steve and Ross stood in line and took their turn in the display booth.   Although all conceded it was pretty impressive, Steve loved it but Ross didn’t.

The bad weather was originally forecast to continue on Wednesday, but we woke to clear skies and another beautiful warm day.

Barb went for a walk and Steve, Ross and Poo Poo Head wet to Macca’s for brecky.

After brecky we went for a walk and Ross had a foot massage by what may have been an illegal immigrant with hidden skills not revealed during the massage.

We all walked past the Thai massage sign pointed down a dark and decrepit alley, Ross has a bit of a sore foot which he twisted running and decided it couldn’t hurt and walked down the alley and into the “clinic”.   Ross asked for a foot massage and they all looked at each other with that “knowing” look.   Ross was then introduced to his young female masseuse who seemed quite confused when Ross stuck his foot out … and to make it even more intriguing, when the massage started it was clear she had no idea what she was doing.   The ‘massage’ continued and we all parted company a little confused about what had actually happened.

We found a Poo Poo Head sized boogie board and headed to the beach where Poo Poo Head found his beloved digger parked on the sand.

The boogie board had held Poo Poo Heads attention for about 15 minutes

Barb realized that with her compact size she too could use the toddler sized boogie board.

There was one small obstacle for Barb to overcome … how to go boogie boarding without actually going out where the big scary waves were.

Princess Kalani Kuna, Surf Godess, summoned all her courage and walked out into waist deep water and took on the mighty QLD breakers.

Not to shabby for a toddlers boogie board !!!

Whilst all this excitement was going on in the water, a commotion was building on the sand.   The birth of a Dragon was playing out on the beach, and it’s proud father was ……………………… Steve !!

In what has become a ritual, we left the beach and headed up to the pool where Poo Poo Head could barely keep his head on top of the water.   How far Poo Poo Head has come in his confidence with water is nothing short of incredible.   He now bobs his head and face in and out of the water for his own amusement.

We ate out tonight at a little Thai café we like to call Our Thai Café.   The food is fast, spicy hot, cheap and not too bad.   After dinner we wandered through the night market where Poo Poo Head chomped another gourmet cupcake.   We stocked up on crazy water and headed back to the apartment for The Pacific.
