Day 59 Dec 14th – Philip Island day 4

Ross’s Birthday plus 1

A glorious day without a single cloud in the sky and without a breath of wind.

We head down to Smiths Beach in the hope of getting in one last surf before the trip draws to a close.    The waves were small with plenty of people on the beach …. But the coolish breeze blowing across the beach and the arctic cold water put a dent in the surf plans.

A wander at Berry’s Beach and Cat Bay on the on the way back to town and the caravan park and we spent the afternoon in the pool with Poo Poo Head happily practicing his swimming.

Poo Poo Head also started jumping into the water from the edge of the pool.   Ross and Barb couldn’t remember the last time Poo Poo Head jumped into water … after landing on Ross’s head and splitting his chin open.

A day before the trip finishes, Ross wore a hole through the bottom of his thongs.   He’s been complaining for a few days he could feel the stones through his thongs.   Ross couldnt quite get the entire trip into one pair of things, but 60 days of being stomped on daily by 86 kilo is a pretty good effort for a thong.

Ross had an identical backup pair to trade up to.

After dinner we head down to San Remo for the Christmas Carols in the foreshore car park.   The carols were being performed by the Victoria Police Showband.   Although Ross has mixed feelings regarding the Showband, they are really of a high standard and can perform all manner of genres of music from rock and roll, to operetta.   The night was relatively mild and had a good crowd.
