Off nth to Mooloolaba

We packed up this morning, said bye bye to the Gold Coast and headed north to the Sunshine Coast.  The drive is about 2 hours and its a good run for the most part.

There is an Ettamogah Pub along the way near Caloundra on the side of the Bruce Hwy.  Its an interesting sight very much the same as the one north of Albury.   Ross pulled off the hwy for Daniel to explore but Daniel was lost in Minecraft and couldnt care less.  So we drove off the highway, through the car park and back onto the highway

We were very excited to see the signs to Mooloolaba.  The beach at Mooloolaba is protected from the coastal southerlies by a headland south of the town.   We arrived at the caravan park and headed, as per the park map to the far corner of the caravan.   The problems were becoming obvious as we drove toward our site.  The streets were narrow, cars parked everywhere and we were the end site of the last street.

We parked the car and walked down to have look ……. it was not going to be easy, especially with a car parked directly in front and blocking the site.   The car belonged to the arseholes opposite and the brainless dickheads were at the beach.   Someone who knew them volunteered to summon them as Ross was getting a little visibly “annoyed”.

We then had to drive into to the street before ours, then reverse out of that street around and along the main street, then reverse around into our street, down and into the site all the way reversing between parked cars …… and all with about 50 people watching.   It pretty much went off without a hitch, much to the disappointment of the members stand.

A quick walk to Coles for supplies and then to the beach.  Luckily the town centre is only a short walk, because with all the cars parked  everywhere and people standing and sitting on the road it would be difficult to drive out.

The water temperture was a mild and inviting 23deg

Everyone at the caravan park seems to know everyone else.  There are a lot of groups camping together.  When we got back from the beach at about 6pm, the entire street was blocked with people sitting on the road drinking and bullshitting.   The next street had 3 tables setup on the road like they were prepping for a redneck wedding.

We have discovered that people rent house sized fridges for their campsites …… some have 2.   The lengths that some people go to in setting up a “camp site” is nothing short of staggering.   The tent campers spend all day setting elaborate setups under massive tarps that encase the whole real estate of the allotted sites.

They have large panel tv’s, house fridges, some have lounge suites …. its incredible
