Byron Bay day 7

Our last day in Byron Bay before we start heading south towards Fingal Bay in Port Stephens.

We’re booked into the Fingal Bay caravan park for a week on Sunday. Tomorrow night will probably be in the bush or a road side camp somewhere an hour or two north of Port Stephens.

Just like Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in The City, season 3 episode 7, where Carrie desperately wanted to buy the fabled Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane shoes; our Carrie (Sarah) replayed the scene with pin point accuracy.

The Manolo Blahniks were replaced with Tiger Lily and the shoes, or boots …. or shoots (shoe-boots) …. or whatever, are to die for. Kieron was equally excited with the purchase ….. the photo shows him just bursting with pride.

Kieron especially like the subtle Lucy Liu cut. This is the first and only time these boots will ever leave the box …. they are an investment for Finley’s University fees.

Our friends left today with the boots (or thongs, ha ha ha) to fly back to Melbourne after spending a week with us in Byron Bay. They’ll possibly mow our lawn, do some garden maintenance or paint the house for us as a surprise. We secretly swapped the Tiger Lilys for Ross’s worn out thongs. It started out as a joke, but we’ve accidently thrown the Tiger Lilys in the rubbish skip.

(All good, Barb didnt like the boots anyway. Friends can tell friends their boots are shit. Apparently its only husbands who cant)

Our hearts are deflated, just like this cheap uncomfortable deflated Big W air bed. This is all that is left of them ……. the place they used to be. The walls are gone (yes, there were walls around them), but surprisingly, the air bed is no less comfortable deflated.

We couldnt bare to look at the empty camp chairs Kieron and Sarah used, so we anonymously gave them to a German tourist named Wenzel and his girlfriend Friedelind. Unfortunately Wenzels in hospital now. Apparently the chair broke.

All cheap humour aside, it was good to have some great company whilst we’re doing what we love. We enjoyed the week along with the company.

We cheered ourselves up by going to the beach for a swim. What started out as a beautiful flawless sunny morning, turned to absolute shit after lunch. Black skies blew over from the north west and the sky opened up and bucketed down. Ross and Daniel stayed at the beach but it soon got a little “too” dark and “too” rough and they headed back to camp

We had already packed up everthing anyway, in preperation for tomorrows departure so the warmish rain didnt pose too many problems.

At first glance this wierd unit resembled a horrendous car accident. An out of control car had careered through a campsite, crashing through the tent. We’re not really sure how this works, one things for sure; a trip to the supermarket would be interesting … you’ld need 3 parking spaces
