Main Beach. Day 5

Daniel was Facetiming his mate Finley last night, they were catching up on all the lastest game and App stuff

….. Barb and Finleys mum Sarah spent more time talking over the top of the boys.

This is the largest Starcraft caravan Jayco manufacture, its a big unit and its the closest traditional (non Expanda) type van that compares to our Expanda in terms of layout with bunk position and bathroom etc. Its about a foot longer than ours in body, and almost 3 foot shorter inside with traditional double bed layout

The Expanda of course, isnt everyones idea of a caravan, but in terms of space, you cant really beat it. The extra bit of set up with the bed end, and the fact its basically a tent, is what we suppose puts people off

Some peoples camps are extrordinarily well done put together and spacious.

Battery charged and the little Festiva purrrrring like a kitten. Parked outside the caravan park. There was a full tank of fuel in the the Festiva, so Ross siphoned half out and sold it to Jims Mowing for $0.50 litre

There are 4 backpackers guys in this van …. What the? … and theres a toilet and shower taking up some of the space. It would be like chernobyl inside at night. What the hell kind of holiday would that be.

Off into Surfers Paradise for the boardwalk market and dinner.
image

Barb was sampling some Dukkah at one of the stalls. They had bread pieces, oil and dipping sauce to sample. Daniel never one to pass up the opportunity for a feed, grabbed a piece of bread, shoved it in the oil and then in the chilli sauce ….. straight into his mouth. He buggered up the entire selection.
image

He then ran off down the path looking for a tap
image

Had a few heart starters before dinner
image

This is what happens when you drink too much tonic before leaving the bar and heading off for dinner

Slowly wandered toward our favorite Thai cafe …. down Orchard Ave where the strip clubs are located. Ross could not be prouder when Daniel stopped to take this photo. It was a glorious moment
image

Looking at Daniels iPod at dinner, Ross found that he trimmed the photo leaving only the good bits …… Ross is crying with pride.

Dinner was a glorious occasion for Daniel … he ordered most of the menu, then arranged the plates and sauces to take full advantage. He wasnt too concerned that nothing had arrived for Ross or Barb …. and he didnt offer anything up either.
image

We did briefly consider Japanese, but didnt fancy cooking our own meal, waiting on our own table, and then cleaning up. What sort of restaurant has no chef, no kitchen hand, no waitress …. and still has the sandwich board advertising out
image

Barb tried the eyebrow threading at the market … looked to Ross more like some weird ancient form of torture
image

….. and Barb also tried the muesli that according to the red banner behind her …. um …. promised to help her …. um …. be less of her
image

It was a big night in Surfers tonight. A lot of people were out and about. It was a great atmosphere, with all the street performers getting big crowds, bars and restaurants all full, and a stack of people on the beach
