Yamba day 1

Our first real rain last night last before leaving Tallebudgera this morning. It rained most of the night with a few heavy showers at times. We have only experienced Victorian rain that always comes with the cold. Bit different up north where the rain comes with the heat. Being in a part canvass camper, we cant leave the canvass open in rain without getting wet. Even though it was hot and sticky, our ventilation was limited.

Early start for the 2 ½ hour trip south the Yamba. With the dodgy weather we considered continuing on as far as possible to get a good start on the run south, and get one of the big driving days behind us.
As the clouds started to clear we decide to head into Yamba and stay just the one night. The caravan park had 2 water slides and whilst overnights aren’t great for Ross driving and setting up for a single night, the afternoon would be good for Poo Poo Head and it would give us a few hours to have a look around at least.

That all changed when we drove into Yamba. After a quick drive around to check the place out, we immediately booked into the town caravan park for two nights.

Yamba is a gem of a place. Great town and facilities, and fantastic beaches. After Poo Poo Heads afternoon nap we head to the closest beach to the caravan park, a short 15 minute walk past the calm inlet beach. The surf was good and water cold.

Have a look at the face on Poo Poo Head. He was watching videos of himself

The caravan park is on the edge of the inlet virtually in the middle of town. This part of the inlet is outside our camp spot

It all seemed ok when we arrived just before lunchtime. We didnt take huge amount of notice of the size of the site. But as people kept coming into the park it quickly became obvious. We were almost on top of each other

Blog finished for tonight, Ross is being eaten alive by mozzies sitting outside. Looking forward to another day at the beach tomorrow.
