Day 51 Dec 6th – Merimbula day 6

Poo Poo Head woke up this morning and coming across to Ross and Barbs bed, was saying, “ …the clock has gone crazy …. the clock has gone crazy”

Not having any idea what he was talking, Poo Poo Head explained that the clock on the microwave, which is next and visible from Poo Poo Heads bed was saying 8 instead of 7.

It took some creative thinking to establish that it was after 8.ooam and Poo Poo Head had just woken up.   His morning instruction is to stay in his bed and remain quiet until the first number on the microwave clock says 7.   He woke up late and has never seen an 8 on the microwave and thought the clock was broken.

Too much cryptic thinking so early in the morning.

Our camp was once again over run by rainbow lorikeets.   They have very little fear and are oblivious to what we were doing around them.   One of the lorikeets, Poo Poo Head named Mr Bossy Boots, was very loud.

After Ross walked his well worn track to the Cheeky Mango for the morning coffee/hot chocolate, the dulcet tones of a piano accordion started emanating from the caravan behind us.   You see, hear and smell some strange things in caravan parks, but we have never heard someone playing a piano accordion.

More riding, more jumping pillow, more playgrounds.

The day was mild but with a threatening grey overcast sky all day.   Although it held off almost the entire day with only a couple of short light mists early on, it was threatening enough not to venture too far from shelter.

We wandered into town to pickup some drugs for Barbs neck and bought a chess set to see if we could slowly teach Poo Poo Head how to play chess.   We say “we” because it wasn’t until we got back to the camper and set up the chessboard that Barb announced she had no idea how to play chess.

Poo Poo Head has grasped checkers and Uno, playing like a pro; so Ross thought chess might be a good challenge to expand his mind a little, help learn multi-tasking, a bit of lateral thinking, concentration and some patience.   He embraced it really well and when he got to information overload, he asked Ross to go for a ride with him, and requested the chess be left set up to continue when we finished riding.

Poo Poo Head picked it up quicker than expected.   Although he has a long way to go to get his head around the intricacies, he quickly absorbed the individual pieces and had a pretty good handle of how each of them could move.

Our planned BBQ dinner was reduced to sausages (Ross’s favourite no taste, fat reduced sausages) in the fry pan when Ross, the BBQ chef, became involved in a l.o.n.g. conversation with our neighbors.

A pattern is starting to emerge here.   Every time there is work to do, packing up, cleaning, cooking, Ross seems to find a friend.

It’s about 9pm and the drizzle has just started. The drizzle started last night as well about the same time. There is no wind at the moment and it’s cool, but not cold.
