Mooloolaba day 6

Our rear neighbours are one of the regular long term xmas campers to this park and have the huge tarp setup. They camp here for 6 weeks

Nice people, in fact all the campers around us are very friendly. The bulk of the park seem to be relatively local people who return year after year. It has a feel much like we expect Rosebud foreshore is to Melbourne’ites.

Everybody knows everbody. Theres no yahoos, the noise stops relatively early and the kids dont run amoke too early.

The lady out back washes clothes etc in a plastic tub and was all questions when the tiny washer hit the stage. They regularly use the tap and sullage drain which sits between our sites and couldnt help but see the tiny washer demonstrating its delights sitting next to the drain doing all the heavy lifting whilst we relaxed.

The following morning hubby mentioned how he has received instructions to source a tiny washer. Once again the tiny washer has set the bar high, and now has a fully paid up fan club.

With the rain on an off most of the night, and the overcast morning alternate plans were made. Although the wet weather mostly kind of cleared off and the temperture rose, we had already made the decision to head to the movies at Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore to see the animated “Frozen” … Poo Poo Heads pick.

Southland might straddle a highway which is impressive enough, but Sunshine Plaza straddles a river which adds novelty value.

The only shopping centre we’ve come across that needs life buoys

“Frozen” verdict … great. And when lifes a little overwhelming, take some time out and have $2 chair massage. (Even if the leg massagers are a bit far away)

Followed the massage up with a scone, jam and cream, and hot chocolate.

Barb went looking for new sheets for the camper and walked straight past this display in Best and Less like it was completely invisible to the female eye ….. come on Barb, Ross is happy enough with the old sheets. How could you miss this, its very tasteful and not at all stripper like (or maybe it is) Ross just like the colors … honest!!

On the way back from the movies we had a wander around the Cotton Tree caravan park where Barb first tried to book. Its in Maroochydore and is bordered by the surf beach and Maroochy River. Ross could paddle the kayak from the caravan park to the shopping centre for supplies.

A big caravan park with great beach access to the river. A cool cafe on the water next door and a nice strip of shops and cafes opposite.

A few of the permanent onsite vans/camps at Cotton Tree have pulled out all stops in their interpretation of paradise. Very cool. Looks like Thurston Howel the 3rd’s hut; just missing a coconut cream pie.

We headed up to the Mooloolaba bar entrance to check it out for the kayak, weather permitting. The swell was rolling around the point, breaking on a reef or bar quite a distance off the entrance. There was a few surf boats and surf skiis playing in the swells, but Hobie fishing kayaks arent known for the surfing capabilities. In fact I would possibly get smashed and give the surf boat guys something more urgent and realistic to practice.

Off to the surf club for dinner. Great club overlooking the beach with a fantastic view a cross the Mooloolaba beach.

Waiting for dinner, Daniel was learned in the secret skill of how lots of incredibly easy money is made; guaranteed. Gambling of course!

How much easier could it be. Just guess 10 Keno numbers in a game that run every 3 minutes 24/7. Win $1mill every 3 minutes; wow, 400 times every day? Couldnt be easier …… could it?

Barb was on a roll, drinking anything the club served including this $15 Toblerone cocktail.

Barb wanted to dance when we got back to the camper. Barb was also singing, so Ross presumed the dancing was to be a impromptu rendition of a musical number such as from Rogers and Hammerstein. Ross was very excited, but whilst he was looking for his ballet pumps Barb must have hit her head, because when Ross turned around Barb was unconscious on the bed. We guessed she did hit her quite hard, because she woke up with a bit of a headache
